Privacy Policy
HydroLoop ("we", "us", the "app") helps you track your hydration. We care about your privacy and collect only what's needed to make the app work. This policy explains what we collect, how it's used, and the choices you have.
HydroLoop is operated by Malcolm Gerard. This policy applies to the HydroLoop iOS app. Questions: hydroloop.support@gmail.com.
Account & identity. When you sign in with Sign in with Apple, we receive a stable Apple user identifier, and — only if you choose to share them on first sign-in — your name and email. We use these to create and secure your account.
Hydration data you create. Your drink logs (amount, beverage type, time), your daily goal, streaks, bottle/skin choices, reminder preferences, and personalization answers (e.g., activity level, height/weight if you provide them in the optional quiz).
Apple Health (HealthKit) data. With your permission, HydroLoop reads workout, active energy, exercise minutes, height, and weight to personalize your goal, and writes the water you log to Apple Health. HealthKit data is used only to provide app features. We never use Health data for advertising or marketing, and we never sell it. You control Health access in the iOS Health and Settings apps.
Approximate location (optional). If you enable the weather feature, the app uses your location to fetch local weather and adjust your goal on hot/humid/high-UV days. Location is used at the time of the request and is not stored on our servers.
Usage analytics (optional, off by default). If you turn on "Usage Analytics" in Settings, the app records basic in-app events (e.g., that a drink was logged or a goal was reached) to help us improve HydroLoop. These events are tied to your account id and contain no other personal information. This is off unless you opt in, and you can turn it off at any time.
Purchases. Subscriptions and the lifetime unlock are processed by Apple via the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment details.
Your account, settings, hydration logs, and (if enabled) analytics events are stored in the cloud using Supabase, Inc., our hosting and database sub-processor, so your data can sync across devices and be restored if you reinstall. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access is restricted so that you can only read and write your own data.
We do not sell your personal information and do not use it to track you across other companies' apps or websites. We share data only with:
We keep your data while your account exists. You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account, which permanently removes your profile, settings, and hydration history from both your device and our cloud. Deleting the app does not delete water already written to Apple Health (manage that in the Health app) and does not cancel any Apple subscription (manage that in your Apple Account settings).
Data is encrypted in transit. Access is enforced per-user at the database level (row-level security), and administrative secrets are never shipped inside the app.
HydroLoop is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above.
